The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners, alongside the Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission, Disabled American Veterans and community partners, today announced the third annual Hamilton County Veterans Appreciation Day, taking place Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TQL Stadium.

 The free community event will bring together veterans, military families and service organizations for a day focused on appreciation, connection and support services. This year’s event will feature an America 250 theme, recognizing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States and honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans who have helped shape the nation.

Last year’s Veterans Appreciation Day at Sawyer Point welcomed approximately 3,000 veterans and family members and connected attendees to benefits, healthcare resources, employment opportunities and community services.

“As someone who comes from a proud military family, supporting veterans is deeply personal to me,” said Commission Vice President Alicia Reece. “What started as an idea has grown into a major community event now entering its third year — and during the Country’s  250^th birthday celebration, we’re connecting thousands of veterans with resources, support, and appreciation. This year will be our biggest celebration yet.”

Hamilton County Commissioners recently approved the largest Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission budget in county history at $3.2 million, reinforcing the County’s continued investment in veteran services and support.

“Veterans Appreciation Day reflects what Hamilton County is all about — honoring those who served while connecting them with meaningful resources and opportunities,” said Commission President Stephanie Summerow Dumas. “As our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of history, we are proud to recognize the veterans whose sacrifice and commitment helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today.”

“Veterans have sacrificed so much in service to our country, and Hamilton County is committed to making sure they feel supported not just with words, but through meaningful action,” said Commissioner Denise Driehaus. “Veterans Appreciation Day is an opportunity to connect veterans and their families with resources, recognize their service, and celebrate the patriotism as America approaches its 250th anniversary.”

“This event is important because it meets veterans where they are and helps connect them to real support,” said Glenn Welling, Executive Director of the Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission. “We want every veteran in Hamilton County to know there are people and organizations ready to help them navigate benefits, services and opportunities designed specifically for them and their families.”

Veterans Appreciation Day will include veteran resources, family-friendly activities, partner organizations, giveaways and opportunities to connect directly with agencies and providers serving the veteran community.
